Lords of the Fallen – the Dark Soulsalike that came out a couple years back, not the Dark Soulsalike of the same name that came out more than a decade ago – has finally broken even.
Developer CI Games CEO and founder Marek Tyminski announced the sales milestone over on social media, sharing that 2023’s Lords of the Fallen reboot has now sold more than 2.5 million copies as of the end of February, 2026.
“The game has officially broken even,” Tyminski tweets. “Huge thanks to every player, supporter, and fan who made this possible. More to come – stay tuned!”
That essentially means Lords of the Fallen has made back the money it spent on development and marketing after over two years on the market, and every dollar it makes from now on is purely profit.
Last summer, the studio said Lords of the Fallen had attracted at least 5.5 million players through both game sales and downloads on subscription services, like Xbox Game Pass, though it worryingly hadn’t reached break even status at that point.
While the road to profitability was crossed crawling, CI Games still seemingly felt that the game had enough momentum to warrant a sequel. Lords of the Fallen 2 is now due to come out on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S sometime later this year.
Lords of the Fallen 2 game director James Lowe recently likened the sequel’s combat evolution to the way the Batman: Arkham trilogy kept one-upping itself in that department. CI Games also knows “it’s important” that its Soulslike “doesn’t just feel like FromSoftware.”
