The Helldivers 2 Bastion Tank is a new universal Stratagem that you can unlock by paying a lot of Requisition Slips at your Ship Management console. To temper your expectations, the Bastion isn’t as heavily armored as you might expect, but with a massive cannon and machine gun it lives up to its “tank destroyer” description, and it even has seats for the whole team like the FRV. If you’re diving into the Automaton front, you’ll want to bring the biggest guns possible, so I’ve detailed everything you need to know about unlocking the Bastion Tank in Helldivers 2 below, as well as how it works.
How to get the Bastion Tank in Helldivers 2
To unlock the Bastion Tank Stratagem, you just need to find the “TD-220 Bastion Mk XVI” Stratagem in the Hangar section of your Super Destroyer’s Ship Management console, then pay the 35,000 Requisition Slips fee. Unfortunately, I can’t tell if there’s a level requirement to meet too but I imagine it’s like the Helldivers 2 mechs which can only be unlocked when you’re at least level 25. Otherwise, it’s a universal Stratagem so any Helldivers 2 player can unlock it, provided they can afford it.
Once you have the Bastion tank unlocked, you can choose it as one of your Stratagems when assembling your best Helldivers 2 loadout. Then you can call it in to get dropped off like any other vehicle, ready to take into battle against the enemies of Super Earth – it’s particularly good against the heavily armored Helldivers 2 Automatons!
Although, be warned: the Bastion requires at least two players to operate, with one driving and the other operating both the 120mm cannon and coaxial heavy machine gun – the gun’s barrel can move around a little, but the turret itself can’t rotate like a traditional tank, so both players need to work together, and ammo is limited too. It’s also bulky enough that you can flatten smaller and squishier enemies by running them over. Thankfully, you’re not limited in the number of Bastion Tanks you can call in in a single mission but bear in mind that its cooldown is over 12 minutes long, so you won’t be using very many of them.
