Looking for something to blast through this weekend with your Game Pass subscription? If you’ve got yourself some free time, and don’t want to waste it all endlessly scrolling through the hundreds of video games available in the Game Pass library, let me jump in and help. Regardless of whether you’re accessing Game Pass through your PC, Xbox Series X, the ROG Ally X, or the Xbox Cloud service, there’s some nice new additions to the service that you need to have on your radar this weekend.
Xbox adds loads of new video games to Game Pass every month, so much so that it can be difficult to keep up with what’s new and noteworthy. Which is why I’m here to help you cut through the noise to recommend games for you to play that are actually worth your time and attention. This week I’m focusing on three new to Game Pass titles that are available for you to play right now.
New to Game Pass games to play this weekend
Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2
When we released our Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 review back in 2024, we called it an “exceptional, larger than life shooter that raises the bar for all Warhammer adaptations.” I stand by that assessment all this time later. Developer Saber Interactive and publisher: Focus Entertainment unleashed one of the best looking games in the Game Pass library, a ferocious third-person shooter that brings the Warhammer sandbox to life with stunning scale and outrageous visual fidelity.
It certainly doesn’t hurt that the game is an utter delight to play as well. Whether you’re a 40K fan or a shooter aficionado looking for a new single-player adventure, I really couldn’t recommend Space Marine 2 enough. It has this hulking melee combat, chattering gunplay, and exceptionally grandiose scenarios for you to battle your way through. Warhammer 40K: Space Marine is about 72GB to download, and will only take around 10-12 hours to beat – so you could knock through it this weekend, especially if you use our beginner’s guide to Space Marine 2.

Grounded 2: The Toxic Tangle

Developer Obsidian Entertainment launched Grounded 2 into Early Access for PC and Xbox Series X last summer and this week saw the release of its first significant content update. The Toxic Tangle represents a fantastic opportunity to dive into this pint-sized adventure game, regardless of whether you’re a newcomer to the series or have been out exploring the back garden since the beginning. And I should say, Grounded 2 is also great fun regardless of whether you’re running solo or with friends.
The Grounded 2: Toxic Tangle content update will let you explore a new Community Garden biome, packed with earthly caverns and new creatures to combat. Naturally, the thing I’m most game for here is the new Ladybug Buggy mount with its water cannon attachment, which will make quick work of any aggressive insects and gritters out there trying to spoil your survival antics. Grounded 2 is around 30GB to install, and even supports crossplay co-op multiplayer.

The Talos Principle 2

Looking to give your brain a bit of a workout this weekend? Well, then I’d suggest you walk away from Wordle and give The Talos Principle 2 a try. This is a thought-provoking puzzle game from developer Croteam and publisher Devolver Digital. It originally released back in 2023, and quite honestly has been drawing me back in ever since. It’s a really neat first-person experience that will make some of you think back to the likes of Myst and The Witness, although The Talos Principle isn’t quite as demanding.
In fact, it’s possible to finish The Talos Principle without solving every puzzle – should you just be here for the delightful visual presentation and a world steeped in weird lore and mind-bending challenges. Although you probably will want to try and shoot for a degree of mastery here, especially as The Talos Principle 2 does such a fantastic job of introducing interesting new concepts gradually – be it gravity manipulation, mind transference, and so much more. The Talos Principle is around 100GB on Xbox Series X, but will offer between 20-40 hours of game time.
