Persona 4 Revival‘s latest trailer has given us our first look – well, listen – of the upcoming JRPG remake’s new cast of actors, and one of the stars from Golden is understandably “grieving” the fact that she’s not reprising her role.
While fans have been theorizing who the new actors in Persona 4 Revival might be, we don’t actually have any confirmed names yet, but one thing we know for sure is that everyone sounds different. Though this might be disappointing to anyone who enjoyed the previous performances, it’s also not too surprising – before Persona 4 Revival was even revealed last year, a number of actors from the previous games helped fuel expectations that a remake was on the way by revealing that they weren’t in it.
Amongst these was Erin Fitzgerald, the English voice actor for the energetic second party member, Chie Satonaka, in Persona 4 Golden (and its following spin-offs). She said at the time: “I have not been asked to reprise my role as Chie Satonaka in the Persona 4 remake. RIP.” Now that the latest trailer is out, she’s been sharing more thoughts.
“I’m ok chat. I’m just deeply grieving,” Fitzgerald begins in a BlueSky post. “Everything in life is transient.
“I celebrate that the experience happened. I am grateful that I lived it FULLY,” she continues. “Thank you for sharing the journey with me.” She shares a GIF of her character, and signs off: “Chie out.”

Persona 3 Reload similarly recast the English voices for all of its main party members, and though the new performances were great, they still took some getting used to for longtime fans of the series. I imagine it’ll be the same here, as you can see in fans’ responses to Fitzgerald. “I’ll miss your Chie, dearly,” one says, as another writes: “Your performance as Chie was tremendously amazing and I think I speak for the entire fandom when I say we’re NEVER forgetting it.”
Persona 4 Revival is now confirmed to be a remake of 2012’s expanded Golden re-release, where Fitzgerald first took on the role (taking over from Tracey Rooney). It’s set to release on February 18, 2027, and after that, we even have Persona 6 to look forward to.
Persona 6 could release next year, Sega leaker hints, telling JRPG fans not to “read too much” into the teaser’s lack of release window.
