It’s been well over a year since Solo Leveling season 2 ended, and it looks like we may have to wait a while longer yet.
According to Screen Rant, the highly anticipated third season has been given a 2027-2028 release window. This corroborates rumors that Solo Leveling Season 3 wouldn’t arrive until around the time of the Olympics… which are set to take place in 2028.
The news comes just days after the President of Crunchyroll assured fans that the season was actively being worked on.
It’s worth noting that the hit anime debuted 2024, with a second season quickly arriving in 2025. Because of the quick turnaround between seasons, it’s easy to see why fans were expecting season 3 to follow suit. However, when it comes to animation, three years between seasons is pretty standard (it’s also becoming standard for live-action streaming shows).
There may be some bigger and better news on the horizon as A-1 Pictures, the studio behind Solo Leveling, will have a panel at Anime Expo 2026. We may very well get a first look or even a trailer for season 3 to tide us over until 2027-2028 rolls around.
Solo Leveling currently holds the title for Crunchyroll’s most-streamed show of all time, thanks to season 2 blowing every other show out of the water. The series also smashed it at the 2025 Anime Awards, taking home the awards for Anime of the Year, Best New Series, Best Action Anime, and Best Main Character (Sung Jinwoo).
