EOFY 2026 sales are just around the corner, which means most Australian retailers will be running deal events very soon. In a year that’s been awful for the budget conscious, thanks to price hikes and the ongoing AI-induced component shortage, EOFY should offer some respite, though it’ll depend what you’re after.
That’s the rub, really. I’ve been covering big Aussie sales events for GamesRadar for nearly a decade now, and gaming has never been as inaccessible, at least when it comes to the cost of entry. The regular PS5 disc model launched in 2020 at AU$749, but nowadays goes for AU$999. Nintendo Switch 2 launched last year for AU$699.95, but come September a price hike will raise that RRP to AU$769.95.
EOFY Gaming deals 2026: What you need to know
When will EOFY sales start in 2026?
While it would make sense for EOFY sales to start at either the end or the beginning of the financial year, deals are not at the mercy of facts. EOFY sales have already started in some quarters, so expect it to be a long sales period running from early May through to the end of July. Yep, it’s a long one.
The EOFY sales period generally just runs for as long as retailers want it to run. For that reason, it’s probably a good idea to do some extra digging if you’re in the market for any big ticket item. Or better still, keep an eye on this page.
Are EOFY sales good for gaming deals?
While consoles may not go super cheap this year due price hikes and the ongoing RAM and SSD component shortage, there should be some decent discounts on games and peripherals. In other words, if you’re after a recent blockbuster game cheap, or need a new headset or controller, it’s worth keeping an eye on this page.
Will PS5 consoles be discounted?
Since Sony’s Days of Play sales event usually coincides with EOFY sales, it’s likely that PS5 consoles will receive a discount during the May – July period. That said, given recent price hikes on PS5 consoles—the cheapest model is now AU$919—it’s unlikely we’ll see deals quite as good as we did last year. For example: in 2025, you could grab a PS5 disc edition with Astro Bot bundled in for AU$699—an extraordinary bargain by today’s measure.
Does Amazon get involved in EOFY sales?
Usually Amazon hosts its creatively-named Mid-Year Sale event in June, which is basically their equivalent to a big EOFY blow out. Amazon hasn’t announced plans to run that promotion again in 2026, but it’s only a matter of time.
