To celebrate Star Wars Day, streaming data company Nielsen has released a load of data from the galaxy far, far away. It released a list of the most-watched shows and movies from the franchise on Disney Plus – and there are a fair few surprises.
Topping the list was Andor, the Rogue One prequel that’s proved itself as a huge hit with both critics and audiences. The 18-episode show was one of only three series that featured in the top 10, with both animated shows Tales of the Underworld and The Clone Wars taking the ninth and tenth slots.
The figures reveal that the most watched properties by far are the movies, with A New Hope coming in second and The Phantom Menace in third. The remaining spots are taken up by other entries of both the original and prequel trilogies, with Rogue One sneaking in at number eight, likely thanks to Andor’s popularity.

However, none of the movies in the contentious sequel trilogy feature in the top 10. The films, released between 2015 and 2019, focused on Rey and her work with the Resistance amid the growing threat of The First Order. Their reception was mixed at the time, especially with the second and third movies dividing viewers, but it is surprising to see them not make an impact at all here.
None of the Star Wars live-action shows outside of Andor feature either, including The Mandalorian and Ahsoka. However, the former does appear in Nielsen’s breakdown of the most popular shows and movies with each generation.
Apparently, The Mandalorian is most popular with both Gen Alpha (2-13 year-olds) and Baby Boomers (62-80 year-olds). The Clone Wars was the biggest hit with Gen Z (14-29 year-olds), while Andor topped the charts for both Millennials (30-45 year-olds) and Gen X (46-61 year-olds).
