Crimson Desert is an enormous game. Even completing its main story in the almost three weeks since launch would be quite a challenge for most, but imagine earning every single trophy the open-world behemoth has to offer. Well, some have actually pulled this off, in a span of time that’s even left Pearl Abyss’ PR and marketing lead concerned.
For some context, the race to Crimson Desert’s Platinum trophy on PS5 was evenly matched for anyone who wanted to participate. As per Pearl Abyss’ director of marketing and public relations, Will Powers, only the PC version was sent out to folks producing Crimson Desert reviews ahead of the actual release date, meaning that anyone playing on Sony’s console has, at the time of writing, had around 20 days to spend in Pywel. Well, it turns out that some folks didn’t even need that long.

TioZer0 explains they went into the game totally blind, and “over 60 of those hours were hunting the insects and fish at the end.” As you might imagine, they add: “I won’t catch a single fish in this game ever again though, hated it.”
The player reckons with guides, folks might be able to follow in their footsteps in around half the time, but even with the amount of time they’ve put in, they’ve still not seen everything Crimson Desert has to offer: “Over 100 creatures, 14 bosses and hundreds of quests to go, even post platinum!”
The Platinum is a massive achievement, regardless, and although PR lead Powers seems to be impressed, I’m sensing… a level of concern. Responding to a tweet sharing TioZer0’s achievement, Powers writes: “But the game has only been available for 428 hours…”
And, yup, you need only look at another of TioZer0’s comments to really put into perspective just how much of their time has been spent in Pywel over the last few weeks. “As long as I eat well, I don’t really feel the need to sleep so much, so I played 56 hours straight and slept 8, repeating until done and only stopping to shower or to buy food,” they write. “I also only needed to work 16 hours during these days, which is also something that makes it easier to complete the game earlier.”
I don’t know if Powers saw this part, but he sagely concludes: “I immediately went to do the math. That’s not enough sleep.”
To be fair, TioZer0 is fully aware of this fact, admitting that it’s an “extremely unhealthy” approach, and “I don’t recommend it to anyone even if you can handle it like me” – words I feel I have to echo here, please don’t try this at home. At least they made time to shower, though – I was very relieved to read that.
