The official runtime for Dune: Part Three has been revealed… and it’s definitely not the three-hour extravaganza some of us were expecting.
According to the official IMAX website, the runtime for Dune: Part 3 is 2 hours 20 minutes. This makes it the shortest installment in Denis Villeneuve’s trilogy, with Dune being 2 hours 35 minutes and Dune: Part Two having a runtime of 2 hours 46 minutes.
Contrary to popular belief, Villeneuve’s filmography consists of some pretty short movies… with 2009’s Polytechniques coming in at just 77 minutes. Dune: Part Two stands as the filmmaker’s longest film to date… though I know some of us wouldn’t have minded if the third installment ended up being close to three hours or more. I’m sure the director’s cut lands somewhere around there (though we’ll just have to wait and see).

You might also notice, when clicking on the IMAX website, that all of the showings for the movie are now sold out. The announcement for the film’s IMAX run dropped alongside a short, 30-second teaser (that really only contains one new shot, which is of Anya Taylor-Joy’s Alia Atreides covered in blood), and tickets sold out in just under three hours.
Though the Dune films are set to wrap up, Dune: Prophecy, the HBO Max series that centers on the origins of the Bene Gesserit, was renewed for a second season back in 2024 and is still expected to arrive sometime in late 2026 or 2027.
