We’ve pulled together this list of the best new movies and TV shows to watch this weekend so you don’t have to! With addictive new series and movies old and new, there’s a lot of great things to watch over the next few days.
It’s the start of April and the streamers are starting to deliver the goods. Apple TV’s excellent Your Friends & Neighbours is back for an exciting second season, as is Netflix’s bruising boxing drama Bloodhounds. But if you’re more in the mood for a movie then check out Crime 101 on Prime Video – an underrated thriller with a star-packed cast. And that’s only scratching the surface of another busy week.

Chris Hemsworth plays an infamous jewel thief in this cool new thriller from director Bart Layton. Hemsworth stars as Mike Davis, a career criminal who is nevertheless careful to make sure that he avoids violence in his robberies. When a $3 million diamond heist goes wrong, however, he comes into contact with Ormon (Barry Keoghan), a ruthless biker who does not share Mike’s concerns for life. Also on his trail is LAPD Detective Lou Lubesnick (Mark Ruffalo).
Despite its starry cast, Sadly Crime 101 was not a hit when it was released in theaters back in February. That’s a shame, as it’s really rather good. Now that it’s streaming on Prime Video, expect Crime 101 to find its audience.

Wayne’s World (Peacock)

It’s perhaps hard to grasp these days just how big a deal Wayne’s World was in the ’90s. The comedy was a proper pop culture phenomena and the film that made Mike Myers a star. Wayne Campbell (Myers) and Garth Algar (Dana Carvey) are a pair of dopey metal heads and the hosts of a public-access TV show, which they film in the basement of Wayne’s parents’ house. Wayne meets and falls in love (“Schwing!”) with Cassandra (Tia Carrere), the vocalist in local band Crucial Taunt, but can he win her heart when sleazy TV producer Benjamin Kane (Rob Lowe) crashes into their lives?
Both the classic original film and its slightly lesser, but still very entertaining, sequel are now streaming on Peacock. Time to reacquaint yourself with Wayne and Garth or get to know them for the first time.

Mad Men star Jon Hamm is the handsome, rogue-ish lead in this slick crime caper. He plays Andrew “Coop” Cooper – a wealthy hedge fund manager unexpectedly fired from his job. Trying to save face and keep up his lavish lifestyle, Coop turns to stealing from his neighbors – and gets embroiled in all manner of chaos as he stumbles upon some deadly secrets.
Season 2 introduces a new threat to Coop: X-Men star James Marsden is joining the cast as Owen, a mysterious character who looks set to upend Coop’s world. Will he be friend or foe? You’ll have to check out the new season, which starts on April 3, to find out.

Daredevil: Born Again season 2

The second season of Daredevil: Born Again has gotten off to a killer start. Two new episodes landed on Disney Plus earlier this week and things are really starting to pick up speed. While Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) searches high and low for Matt/Daredevil (Charlie Cox), forces conspire to try and bring the evil Kingpin down. Still, he maintains an iron grip on New York City thanks to his brutal Anti-Vigilante Task Force.
It’s still early days, but Daredevil: Born Again’s second season is already building up a head of steam and there’s the sense that things are about to really kick off in Hell’s Kitchen. Now’s the time to get caught up with one of the best MCU projects of recent years.

Bloodhounds season 2 (Netflix)

Bloodhounds is a brilliant and often brutal South Korean boxing drama that debuted back in 2023. The series follows two prizefighters, Gun-woo (Woo Do-hwan) and Woo-jin (Lee Sang-yi), who got involved in a dangerous battle with the criminal underworld. Having defeated a group of ruthless loan sharks in the first season, Gun-woo is now focused on building his career as a boxer, with help from Woo-jin who is working as his trainer. Their eyes are set on an underground international boxing league, with a cash prize worth billions at stake. But with big money comes even bigger threats…
The second season of Bloodhounds looks like the show has taken a real step up with more danger and drama than before. Check the series out if you’re into intense dramas – this one is a knockout.

St. Denis Medical season 1 (Netflix)

If The Pitt is a bit too stressful then the first run of this NBC medical sitcom, from the team behind Superstore, might be the show for you. St Denis Medical is an Office-style mockumentary following the overworked and underpaid doctors and nurses in the titular hospital in Oregon. Some of these include supervising nurse Alex (Allison Tolman), vain trauma surgeon Bruce (Josh Lawson), and cynical elderly physician Ron (David Alan Grier).
This first run of St. Denis doesn’t quite match Scrubs at its peak, but it has a lot of promise and a lot of laughs. Season one is hitting Netflix just as season two is wrapping up on NBC. A third run has already been commissioned.
